June 2010 / Visiting Washington DC this summer? Check out "Pousette-Dart: Predominantly White Paintings" at the Phillips Collection.
Curator Eliza Rathbone, Chief Curator of the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC explores a very special and particular chapter in the artist's oeuvre. In the early 1950s, Pousette-Dart created a series of paintings working in graphite and oil on canvas to produce works that are both complex and spare, subtle, yet quite intense. The exhibition contains 27 works (many that have not been seen for 50 years) and will be on view June 5 - September 12, 2010.

May 2010 / Good Summer Reading
Judd Tully's article in Art+Auction takes "A Second Look" at the works of Norman Bluhm, Edward Dugmore, Michael Goldberg and Alfred Leslie in addition to a few others. Tully examines their contributions to push the seemingly improvisational style of Abstract Expressionism further and their short lived notoriety that was eclipsed by Pop art in the early 1960s. Now these same artists are garnering more respect from museums and in the marketplace.
